A new food hall is set to open in Cambridge, with five of its nine tenants already confirmed. The Eastern Edge Food Hall, located at 290 Main St in Kendall Square, will feature notable vendors including Clover Food Lab, Juicy Jay’s, Perillas Korean Kitchen, Everybody Gotta Eat, and Việt Citron. This new establishment aims to create a vibrant dining experience at the “eastern edge” of the MIT campus.
Clover Food Lab, which began its journey as a food truck in 2008, is particularly significant as it returns to the neighborhood where it first made its mark. The eatery specializes in plant-forward cuisine, offering a diverse menu that includes Mediterranean-inspired dishes such as Chickpea Fritter Sandwiches, Rosemary Fries, and a selection of housemade seasonal sodas and spritzes.
Julia Wrin Piper, CEO of Clover, expressed enthusiasm about the new venture, stating, “Eastern Edge is going to be Cambridge’s next great gathering place.” Piper emphasized Clover’s commitment to community, highlighting its connections with local New England farmers and the MIT community that contributed to the success of the original food truck.
Eastern Edge Food Hall: A Community Destination
The Eastern Edge Food Hall is expected to open in early 2026. Developed by local hospitality company Gather Group and designed by Eimer Design, the project will span approximately 11,000 square feet and accommodate seating for 275 guests. The hall will feature two spacious bars, a Venetian-inspired café, and flexible areas for classes, community events, and private celebrations.
According to Hans van der Reijden, founder and CEO of Gather Group, the food hall aims to encapsulate the culinary excellence and creativity associated with both Cambridge and the Greater Boston area. He noted, “From design to the curation of our culinary lineup, our vision has been to craft a destination that supports local chefs while offering guests an exceptional and welcoming experience.”
As the food hall prepares for its debut, anticipation builds around the innovative culinary experiences it promises to deliver. With a focus on local talent and community engagement, Eastern Edge Food Hall aims to become a hub for food lovers and a testament to Cambridge’s rich culinary scene. More details about the remaining vendors and features of the food hall are expected to be unveiled in the coming months.
