A man has been charged following a police pursuit that ended in a crash in Ashcroft, located in Sydney’s south-west. The incident occurred on the evening of November 29, 2025, when officers from the Liverpool City Highway Patrol attempted to stop the driver of a Toyota Corolla on Maxwells Avenue at approximately 18:40.
When the driver failed to comply with the directive to stop, police initiated a pursuit. Shortly thereafter, the Corolla collided with a Toyota Camry before crashing into a power pole, which resulted in downed power lines. The driver, identified as a 32-year-old man, allegedly fled the scene on foot but was apprehended at the intersection of Marum and Devlin Street after a chase.
During the arrest, it is claimed that the man attempted to resist officers. He was subsequently taken to Liverpool Police Station. Authorities reported that a quantity of drugs and a counterfeit $50 note were discovered inside the vehicle. Further investigation revealed that the man was operating the vehicle with a provisional license that expired in 2015.
Injuries and Charges Filed
The incident resulted in injuries for a rear seat passenger, a 46-year-old man, who sustained a laceration to his face and was transported to Liverpool Hospital for treatment. A front seat passenger, a 31-year-old woman, was unharmed, and neither passenger was arrested. No serious injuries were reported among the occupants of the Camry.
The driver faces multiple charges, including:
– Police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously
– Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous
– Never licensed person drive vehicle on road – prior offence
– Fail to stop and assist after impact causing injury
– Not give particulars to other driver
– Hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty
– Possess counterfeit money (not excepted counterfeit coin)
– Possess/attempt to possess a prescribed restricted substance
The man, a resident of Colebee, was refused bail and is scheduled to appear at Bail Division Court 6 on November 30, 2025.
