URGENT UPDATE: A vibrant new children’s kitchen area has just been installed at the Iramoo Community Centre, thanks to the dedicated efforts of the Wyndham Vale Men’s Shed. The unexpected renovation was completed recently, surprising many center users and bringing joy to local children.
The initiative began when members of the Shed recognized the poor state of the existing kitchen area, which consisted of an old washbasin and a separate cooktop. Peter Gibbons, a spokesperson for the Shed, revealed, “We were asked if we could do something about the existing kiddie’s kitchen which was in a bad state of repair.”
In a remarkable display of teamwork, John Cassar sourced surplus wood from Bunnings and constructed the new kitchen at his home. The assembled pieces were then transported to the Shed, where other members painted and finalized the project. Gibbons emphasized, “It was a good team effort.”
The reaction from the staff at the Iramoo Community Centre was overwhelmingly positive. “The best part of it was the reaction from the staff when they discovered that we had installed it while they were away,” Gibbons noted. The new kitchen area has quickly become a hotspot for children, who are now busy engaging in imaginative kitchen play.
This heartwarming initiative highlights the impact of community involvement and the value of local organizations working together. If you’re interested in supporting or joining the Shed, you can contact them at 8742 6448 or visit on Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday between 9 AM and 3 PM.
