UPDATE: Dederang-Mt Beauty has made a significant move in the off-season by signing premiership ruckman Logan Hamilton, marking a fresh start under new coach Josh Kable. This urgent development comes as the Bombers aim to enhance their competitiveness in the TDFL.
Hamilton, who played a key role in Holbrook’s stunning grand final victory over Osborne in 2022, joins the Bombers following a year off after initially signing with North Albury. He did not play any matches this season, opting to take a break from the game. Kable, who previously played alongside Hamilton at Holbrook in 2024, expressed his excitement over the signing, emphasizing Hamilton’s physical presence and versatility on the field.
“We are very excited to land Logan,” Kable stated. “He is a big unit and will provide a strong ruck option for us.”
At 27 years old, Hamilton brings a wealth of experience and skill, making him a valuable addition to Dederang-Mt Beauty’s lineup. Kable noted that Hamilton’s physical attributes will be crucial in the TDFL’s demanding environment. “He is also dangerous when the ball hits the ground because he is powerfully built and has got good skills as well,” Kable added.
Hamilton’s journey to Dederang-Mt Beauty is a testament to his determination to make an impact after taking a year off. “Logan was going to play O&M with North Albury this year,” Kable explained. “He started the pre-season but then decided to have the year off instead. So he is really hungry to play again.” Their connection grew after Kable reached out to Hamilton, leading to a swift agreement.
In addition to Hamilton, the Bombers have also signed Sam Bakes, a promising 20-year-old who took the previous season off but previously played for Tallangatta. Kable noted Bakes’s unexpected arrival at training, highlighting his fitness and skills. “Getting Sam was a bit of a blessing,” Kable remarked.
This off-season has seen relatively few high-profile signings in the TDFL, making the arrivals of Kable and Hamilton particularly notable. Kable, a Barton Medal runner-up in 2021, has already begun to reshape the Bombers, aiming for a strong performance next season.
Fans and analysts alike are eager to see how these developments will impact the Bombers’ strategy and performance in the upcoming season. As the TDFL landscape shifts, all eyes will be on Dederang-Mt Beauty to gauge the effectiveness of their new signings and coaching direction.
Stay tuned for more updates as the Bombers prepare for the challenges ahead and work towards solidifying their position in the league.
