Abandoned Projects Revived: New Builders Set to Restart Work

URGENT UPDATE: Two major construction projects in Griffith, Australia, are set for a revival after remaining dormant for years. The Ngumbaaydyil Community Hub and the townhouses on Wakaden Street will resume construction, now under the management of Dall’Est Constructions, following the previous contractor, Greenwich Build, entering administration.

Officials at Argyle Housing confirmed that construction will restart throughout 2026, marking a significant step forward for the community. Carolyn Doherty, CEO of Argyle Housing, expressed relief that these crucial projects are returning to the forefront after years of delays and unpaid invoices left by Greenwich’s collapse.

In a statement, Doherty said,

“I am deeply saddened by the effect that the previous builder going into administration has had on contractors who have contributed significantly to getting these projects to where they are today. We are very happy to be partnering with Dall’Est Constructions to deliver these important projects for Griffith.”

Dall’Est Constructions has been instrumental in resetting and completing both builds, and their Principal, Michael Dall’Est, is already engaged in the process. “These projects are about more than buildings; they are about people, connection, and delivering community assets that will make a real difference,” Doherty added, highlighting the human impact of these developments.

Additionally, Kidman Consulting has been appointed to manage the projects alongside Argyle Housing and Dall’Est Constructions, ensuring a coordinated approach to the construction efforts.

While excitement builds over the Ngumbaaydyil Community Hub and the Wakaden Street townhouses, the Hanwood Amenities Complex remains in limbo, as Griffith City Council has yet to appoint replacement builders.

Community members are eager to see the doors of the Ngumbaaydyil Community Hub open, as it promises to become a vital space for local services and connections once completed.

As construction ramps up, residents and stakeholders are urged to stay tuned for further updates as this story develops. The return of these projects signifies a renewed commitment to community development in Griffith, and many are hopeful for the positive changes ahead.
