Emergency services responded to a serious collision involving two vehicles on the Yorke Highway in Curramulka at approximately 15:00 on December 26. The crash occurred at the intersection with Mount Rat Road, prompting an immediate response from police and emergency personnel.
Major Crash investigators were dispatched to examine the site of the incident. Four individuals were taken to hospital for treatment. A 53-year-old female passenger in a Mazda SUV was airlifted with serious injuries but her condition is now stabilizing and is no longer deemed life-threatening.
The driver of the Mazda, a 48-year-old man from Queensland, along with a 32-year-old woman from Black Forest, who was a passenger in a Toyota sedan, received treatment at a local hospital. The 33-year-old male driver of the Toyota sustained minor injuries in the collision.
Following the incident, the driver of the Toyota was arrested and charged with causing serious harm through dangerous driving and driving without due care. He has been granted bail to appear in the Kadina Magistrates Court on April 27. As a result of the charges, he has also received an immediate loss of his driving licence.
Both vehicles involved in the crash were towed from the scene, and the Yorke Highway has since reopened to traffic.
