Buy Apple Products Tax-Free: Sales Tax Holidays in Nine States

Residents of nine states will have the opportunity to purchase Apple products without incurring state sales tax during designated sales tax holidays. These events typically occur annually and vary by state in terms of dates and eligible products. While local sales taxes may still apply, the holidays offer a chance for consumers to save on a range of Apple items.

Sales tax holidays allow states to exempt certain purchases from sales tax for a limited time. Each state has its own regulations regarding eligible products and price limits, making it essential for consumers to review the specifics before making a purchase. Below are the details for each participating state.

Sales Tax Holiday Details by State

Alabama will hold its sales tax holiday from July 18 to 20. The maximum price for eligible products is set at $750. Consumers can purchase computers, including Mac computers and iPad models, along with accessories if the total sale is under the price limit. Eligible accessories include keyboards, mice, Apple Pencil, speakers, monitors, and more.

In Arkansas, the holiday occurs on August 2 and 3, with no price limit on eligible products. All Mac computers, iPad models, iPhone models, printers, and accessories, such as the Apple Vision Pro, are eligible for tax exemption.

Massachusetts offers a holiday on August 9 and 10, with a maximum price of $2,500 for any single item. This includes all Apple products, giving consumers a broad range of purchasing options.

New Mexico will run its sales tax holiday from July 25 to 27. Here, the maximum price is $1,000 for computers and iPads, while accessories are limited to $500. Eligible products include various computer models, accessories, and peripherals.

In Ohio, residents can benefit from a holiday between August 1 and 14. The limit for any one item is $500, but there is no cap on the total purchase.

The South Carolina sales tax holiday is scheduled for August 1 to 3, also with no maximum price limit. All Apple products, including Mac computers, iPad models, and accessories, qualify for tax exemption during this period.

For Tennessee, the holiday will take place from July 25 to 27, with a total maximum price of $1,500 for computers and accessories. This includes all Mac computers, iPads, and associated products.

Virginia has set its sales tax holiday for August 1 to 3, with a limit of $60 per item. Eligible products include phone chargers and batteries priced at or below this threshold.

Lastly, West Virginia will hold its tax holiday from August 1 to 4, with a maximum price of $500 for iPads and related products.

Planning Ahead for Savings

During these sales tax holidays, consumers are encouraged to plan their purchases to maximize savings. Each state’s regulations vary significantly, so understanding the specific details is crucial. The opportunity to buy popular items tax-free can lead to substantial savings, particularly for those considering larger purchases like computers or multiple devices.

As these events approach, shoppers should check local guidelines and be prepared to act quickly, as the time frame for these offers is often limited. For those eligible, the savings from these sales tax holidays can make a notable difference in the overall cost of purchasing Apple products.
