Kincumber Skatepark Set for Major Upgrade: Construction Begins 2025

UPDATE: A major upgrade for the Kincumber skatepark has been confirmed, with construction expected to commence in late 2025 or early 2026. This exciting project will expand the skatepark’s footprint from 200 sqm to 750 sqm, making it a premier destination for riders of all ages and skill levels.

The new skatepark will replace the outdated facility with a modern, street-style layout designed for both beginners and advanced users. It will feature shaded seating, spectator areas, and improved integration with surrounding sports fields, significantly enhancing community engagement.

Central Coast Councillor Jared Wright emphasized the skatepark’s importance, stating, “Having grown up in Kincumber, I have fond memories of riding my bike, skateboard, and scooter down at the Frost Reserve skatepark.” He highlighted that the expanded design will accommodate more users, fostering a sense of community and interaction.

Community feedback played a crucial role in shaping the final design, which will include a mini ramp on the southern side and repositioning of the bank area for better flow and safety. “This project is a fantastic example of Central Coast Council listening to the community,” Wright said.

The upgraded layout will span approximately 12m x 45m, allowing for safe movement across various skate features. Inspired by Kincumber’s rich history and beloved local skate spots, the design incorporates elements that reflect the area’s unique character, such as urban plaza-style obstacles.

Surrounding enhancements will feature new footpaths and green spaces, ensuring accessibility and comfort for all visitors. Wright remarked, “Creating more opportunities for young people in the community is so important. This will be a space that everyone can enjoy, whether it is for riding a bike, enjoying a picnic, or having a coffee with friends.”

As construction approaches, the community is buzzing with anticipation for a revitalized skatepark that promises to become a focal point for social interaction and recreational activities in Kincumber. Stay tuned for further updates as this project progresses!
