The popular reality television series, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, has returned for a new season, featuring a diverse cast of celebrities navigating the challenges of the South African jungle. Among them is Deni Hines, a well-known singer from the 1990s, who has already made an impactful entrance by participating in a challenging bungee jump. Long-time host Julia Morris recently shared her thoughts on Hines and her vibrant personality during an interview on Nova 96.9’s Fitzy & Wippa show.
Reflecting on their history, Morris recalled competing alongside Hines on Celebrity Apprentice in 2011. The two had a competitive dynamic, with Morris admitting that Hines’ strong presence can be overwhelming. “I did series one of the Celebrity Apprentice with Deni, and you know, I wish I had an ability to be more honest with the stuff that’s directly in my head and then out my mouth,” Morris explained. She acknowledged that Hines has a unique ability to express herself freely, which adds an exciting element to their interactions.
During their time on Celebrity Apprentice, both women faced significant public scrutiny, particularly Hines, who was often criticized for her assertive approach. Morris defended Hines against the backlash she received, suggesting that some of the criticism stemmed from underlying racism. In a statement to The Daily Telegraph back in 2011, she remarked, “Deni hasn’t just been bullied; there’s a lynch mob after her, and I’m not altogether convinced that’s not something to do with the fact she doesn’t have white skin.”
Morris ultimately emerged as the winner of the competition, securing a $100,000 prize for the Breast Cancer Foundation. Hines, on the other hand, is competing this season of I’m A Celebrity to raise funds for Monika’s Rescue, an organization dedicated to rehoming and saving pets from local council pounds.
As the latest season unfolds, viewers can expect an engaging mix of drama and camaraderie among the contestants. The show airs on Network 10 and 10play, with new episodes broadcast at 19:00 local time.
