Couples Slash Wedding Costs Using Temu Amid Budget Crunch

URGENT UPDATE: Couples are revolutionizing wedding planning by turning to online shopping platforms like Temu to cut costs, as new data shows a staggering 70% of couples cite budget pressures as their top concern. With the average wedding now costing $35,315 as of last year, many are seeking innovative ways to save while still achieving their dream celebrations.

Bride-to-be Amelia Dagher, 27, from Sydney, faced shocking quotes from florists—over $10,000 for floral arrangements. “The prices we were being quoted were just ridiculous,” she stated. Determined not to start her marriage in debt, Dagher turned to Temu after discovering success stories in a Facebook group about DIY wedding decor.

On October 25, 2025, Dagher’s wedding showcased her creativity, as she transformed $350 worth of fake flowers into stunning arrangements for her white-themed ceremony. “I couldn’t believe how luxe the flowers looked,” she added, emphasizing her satisfaction with the outcome and the substantial savings achieved.

In an equally resourceful approach, Dagher opted to create a five-tier decorative cake using foam cylinders, which cost just $100 compared to the $5,000 quote she received for a traditional cake. “It felt like us,” she said, recalling the joyful experience she shared with her fiancé, Nathan, while crafting the cake together.

The trend doesn’t stop with Dagher. Franchezca Gray, 23, from Brisbane, is also embracing this DIY movement ahead of her wedding in September 2025. “I’ve had a Pinterest board for my wedding for like 10 years,” she shared. By utilizing Temu, Gray spent just $165 on essential decor items, saving hundreds compared to traditional vendors.

Even pre-wedding events are seeing a shift as bridal parties turn to budget-friendly options from online platforms. Emma Wiggley, 31, crafted unique bridesmaid gift bags using Temu products, enhancing the personal touch of the celebrations.

These couples are not just saving money; they are also reshaping the wedding industry landscape by opting for personalized, DIY solutions that reflect their unique styles. As more brides and grooms explore these cost-effective alternatives, the trend is likely to expand, influencing future weddings across the globe.

For couples planning their weddings, experts recommend ordering early, reading product reviews carefully, and measuring items accurately to ensure satisfaction. With the rise of platforms like Temu, it’s clear that budget-conscious couples are finding smart, stylish ways to have their dream weddings without breaking the bank.

Stay tuned for more updates as we track how this trend continues to evolve, helping couples navigate the often overwhelming costs associated with weddings.
