Volunteers at Frankie’s Community Kitchen in Warragul have achieved a remarkable milestone by preparing a record number of meals in a single night. On this occasion, the dedicated team, led by kitchen manager Luke, produced an impressive 1,566 quiches and packed 219 soups, setting a new internal record.
“This is a record night for us here,” Luke stated, emphasizing the significance of the achievement. “It’s a total we used to hope for in a week.” While the volunteers celebrated their accomplishment, Luke underscored the unfortunate reality that such meals are needed within the community. “We always remember who we are doing this for at Frankie’s Kitchen, but it’s also important to acknowledge the hard-working volunteers making the food with heart and love, and pushing it out for those in need. Three cheers for the team.”
Community Impact Drives Volunteer Efforts
Chairperson Geoff Manson clarified that there was never an intention to break records at Frankie’s Community Kitchen. “Every time our volunteers put on an apron, they’re not doing it for accolades or numbers,” he remarked. “They’re doing it because they want to create a positive lasting impact in their local community. That shared purpose is what drives everything we do.”
Manson noted that the extraordinary output of the night was the result of “strong team cohesion, good preparation, and people showing up with the right intent.” He added that while the session marked the kitchen’s best single-night output to date, it represents just a fraction of the over 100,000 meals the teams will produce throughout the year.
“The real story is the consistency of our volunteers and the culture they’ve built,” Manson explained. “It’s about showing up week after week with care, humility, and a genuine desire to help. That’s what creates lasting impact, and that’s what we’re most proud of.”
The achievement not only highlights the dedication of the volunteers but also reflects the pressing need for community support initiatives. Frankie’s Community Kitchen continues to play a vital role in addressing food insecurity in the area, demonstrating the power of collective effort and commitment to serving those in need.
