Gembrook’s 30th Car Show Celebrates Classic Cars and Community

UPDATE: The Rotary Club of Emerald and District has just wrapped up its landmark 30th annual car show at the Gembrook Recreation Reserve, held on 22 February. This year’s event has completely transformed, attracting over 300 classic, custom, and vintage vehicles, marking a significant expansion from previous years and delighting car enthusiasts despite looming rain.

The Gembrook Classic and Custom Car Show and Swap Meet debuted a broader vehicle range, welcoming pre-1990 models, hot rods, and more, making it a must-see for automobile aficionados. The event’s success was bolstered by community support, including the Gembrook Cricket Club, which provided the venue, and local groups like the Scouts, who managed parking.

A highlight of the day was the presence of the popular automotive figure, Mr. Excited, who not only judged the vehicles but also engaged the crowd with his enthusiasm. The event featured a variety of awards recognizing the exceptional quality of cars on display. Notable winners included:

Rotary President’s Choice: Ron Ryan
Best Classic: Adrian Slode
Best Custom: Joe Lamendola
Best Original: James Creswell
Best Hot Rod: Peter Hariton
Mr. Excited’s Award: Ian Martin
Rockabilly Award: Bev Green

Adding to the vibrant atmosphere, local band Rustbucket kept attendees entertained with energetic performances, while various food vendors and swap meet stalls created a festive family-friendly environment.

The Rotary Club expressed gratitude to their sponsors, including Angrave Engineering, JBO Engineering, EM Automotive, OrgMent Business Solutions, Shannons Insurance, and United Panels Pakenham. This annual fundraising event not only showcases automotive passion but also supports local organizations and community projects.

As interest continues to grow, the Rotary Club of Emerald and District is already planning for next year’s event, aiming to expand its reach across the local area and greater Melbourne. The success of the show reaffirms the community’s enthusiasm for classic cars and the positive impact of collective efforts in supporting local initiatives.

Stay tuned for updates as the Rotary Club prepares for even bigger developments in 2024!
