New Apple Display Studio 2 Models Rumored Ahead of Launch

Rumors surrounding the next generation of Apple’s display technology have intensified, suggesting that two new models of the Apple Studio Display are in the pipeline. According to information sourced from Macworld and reported by MacRumors, internal Apple documentation indicates the existence of two distinct models, identified by the codes J427 and J527.

These upcoming models are anticipated to cater to various consumer preferences, potentially featuring a 32-inch and a 27-inch version. The larger model is expected to boast enhanced audio capabilities and an improved selection of ports, alongside its increased screen size. Both models are rumored to incorporate ProMotion technology, enabling refresh rates of up to 120 Hz, while support for high dynamic range (HDR) is also likely.

In terms of connectivity, at least one Thunderbolt 5 port is mentioned, which promises to support a resolution of 5K at 120 Hz. The anticipated launch date could be as early as next week, coinciding with a series of significant product announcements from Apple.

Design and Features

Despite the exciting new features, design modifications are not expected with the upcoming models. The current Apple Studio Display is characterized by its 27-inch screen and a height of up to 58.3 cm (23 inches), depending on the stand chosen. Previous reports have suggested that the second-generation model could transition to mini-LED technology, which would enhance display quality significantly.

This speculation follows earlier indications from Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, who noted that shipping times for the existing Studio Display were beginning to slip. This trend often suggests an impending refresh, and Gurman speculated that the new model could feature an upgraded internal chip, possibly the A19 used in the iPhone 17. His insights hinted at a potential reveal around the start of March, aligning perfectly with Apple’s scheduled product announcements starting on Monday.

With the first version of the Studio Display launching in 2022, the tech community is keenly awaiting this upgrade. The expected enhancements and competitive specifications may entice consumers looking for high-quality monitor solutions. As anticipation builds, many are encouraged to stay tuned for further updates as Apple’s announcement week unfolds.
