The Emerging Climate Leaders Fellowship program at the Yale Jackson School of Global Affairs has officially commenced, bringing together mid-career professionals dedicated to advancing climate and clean energy initiatives. This year, the program welcomed its 2026 cohort, which includes 15 fellows from diverse backgrounds across the Global South. The initiative aims to enhance technical skills, expand professional networks, and foster collaboration on pressing climate challenges.
Connecting Diverse Perspectives on Climate Action
Among the fellows is Trishna Nagrani, who leads the Asian expansion for Climeworks, a company focused on carbon removal. Nagrani expressed her desire to engage with broader climate issues beyond her specialization in carbon capture, noting that such a focus can sometimes lead to feelings of isolation. “The fellowship offers a rare opportunity to engage deeply with other dimensions of the climate challenge – from the energy transition to the intersection of climate policy, science, and development,” she stated. Hailing from Panama, Nagrani is enthusiastic about the chance to learn from peers and experts who approach climate change from various perspectives.
The program kicked off in February 2024 with a week-long gathering at Yale, during which fellows participated in a series of public events addressing a wide range of climate-related topics. These sessions facilitated dialogue among fellows, Yale faculty, and students, allowing for a rich exchange of ideas and experiences.

The Emerging Climate Leaders Fellowship is designed specifically for professionals from developing regions in Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia, and Oceania. By providing access to expert knowledge and a supportive network, the program aims to empower participants to tackle climate change challenges effectively.
