Fracture Brewing is set to manage a new bar at the upcoming Extra Credit Food Cart Pod on the campus of Portland State University. This announcement follows nearly a year of planning for the space, which is anticipated to open in February 2026. The bar will be located at 1900 SW 5th Avenue, in a venue that aims to enhance the university’s dining options.
The information was shared via the Extra Credit food cart pod’s official Instagram account. Kurt Huffman, the owner of ChefStable, which oversees Fracture Brewing, confirmed that the food pod will feature approximately 20 food carts along with essential utilities for its tenants. This development marks a significant step in revitalizing the site of the former Wells Fargo building, which has long been shuttered.
“Full bar by Fracture Brewing,” states a pamphlet from Extra Credit, emphasizing the bar’s commitment to quality. The new establishment will also provide indoor seating for over 200 patrons, with the food carts positioned inside the venue. It remains unclear at this time whether Fracture Brewing will offer food alongside its beverage selections.
Fracture Brewing is already well-established in Portland, with two existing locations at 1015 SE Stark Street and 431 SW Harvey Milk Street within the Midtown Beer Garden. The brewery is known for its diverse range of craft beers, including west coast pilsners, pale ales, hazy ales, and blond ales.
As of May 2023, Extra Credit has been actively seeking applications from new businesses interested in occupying the food cart pods, further indicating that the project is moving forward at a rapid pace. The introduction of Fracture Brewing’s bar is expected to contribute to the vibrant food scene on campus, providing students and visitors with a unique dining experience in a communal atmosphere.
