URGENT UPDATE: Leura Public School’s P&C association is launching a crucial fundraising effort to upgrade its outdated library. With just over two years remaining, they aim to raise $50,000 by the end of 2025 to complete the refurbishment and reopen the library in 2026.
P&C President Rebecca Selkirk announced that the association has raised $17,000 so far, highlighting the pressing need for new technology, furniture, books, shelves, and flooring. “Modernising a space as crucial as the library is something our children greatly need,” Selkirk stated, stressing the importance of providing a contemporary learning environment.
To accelerate fundraising efforts, the P&C is hosting a book nerd trivia night on Saturday, August 23, at Scenic World. This adult-only event will charge $10 per person or $100 for a table, which includes complimentary pizza snacks donated by Scenic World.
Additionally, mark your calendars for the third annual under the stars movie night on Saturday, September 20. Sponsored by Crunchyroll and Bendigo Bank, this exciting event will feature a screening of the beloved film My Neighbour Totoro, projected on the town’s water supply tank. Tickets are priced at $10 per person, with free admission for children under two years old.
Leura Public School P&C is also extending an opportunity for local businesses to advertise on the school’s front fence, further contributing to the fundraising goal. For more information and ticket purchases, visit the P&C website at leurapandc.weebly.com.
This initiative is not just about raising funds; it’s about creating a vital resource for the community’s children.
