Berry Long Run Returns August 9 to Support Family Violence Victims

UPDATE: The highly anticipated Berry Long Run is set to return on August 9, 2025, and this year marks its 11th annual event aimed at raising crucial funds for victims of family violence. Participants will traverse a stunning 70-kilometre route from the picturesque Blackwood Mineral Springs to a breathtaking gorge trail, concluding back in town for a celebratory finish.

The event features an additional 40-kilometre marathon route, ensuring runners can enjoy the same spectacular scenery while supporting a vital cause. Organiser Joe Lewis highlights the run’s significant impact, stating it directly benefits Berry Street, an organization dedicated to helping children affected by abuse and neglect.

Berry Street has a long history of supporting families impacted by abuse and neglect, and they now operate a substantial network of schools and foster care programs across Victoria,” Lewis explained. This community-driven event relies heavily on volunteers, particularly from the local Melton City Runners group, to ensure its success each year.

Lewis emphasized, “We can’t make it work from a cost perspective without all of that volunteer help, so it’s just kind of a community occasion.” He also noted there is always room for more volunteers, with registration now available on the event website.

IMPORTANT: Registrations for the 70-kilometre run will close on August 6, 2025, and spots are limited. Interested runners are encouraged to visit the official event website for more details on participant requirements and registration procedures.

This year’s Berry Long Run promises to unite the community for a day of athleticism and support for those in need. Mark your calendars and prepare to join the fight against family violence while enjoying the stunning landscapes of Moorabool.
