Unlocking Buggies in Grounded 2: How to Ride and Explore

The highly anticipated game, Grounded 2, has introduced a captivating feature: Buggies, which serve as bug mounts. These Buggies offer unique abilities based on the type of insect, enhancing gameplay in the vibrant setting of Brookhollow Park. Currently, players can access two Buggies: the red soldier ant and the orb weaver spider, both of which can be unlocked through specific gameplay missions.

As the early access phase progresses, more Buggies will be added, including exciting updates slated for fall and winter. With the addition of features like the Hotpouch and new Buggy types, players can expect an evolving experience.

Unlocking the Red Soldier Ant Buggy

To acquire the red soldier ant Buggy, players must first complete the Egg Hunt quest. This quest guides players through the mount system and the process of hatching their own Buggies. Here are the steps to unlock this mount:

1. Progress through the main missions until the Egg Hunt quest is available.
2. Follow the quest objectives to unlock the Hatchery bundle for 500 Real Science points at the Science Shop located in any Ranger Outpost.
3. Craft a hatchery and an ant nest at your base. The required materials are:
– Hatchery: 6x weed stems, 1x acorn top, 6x acorn shells, 5x mite fuzz
– Ant Nest: 6x weed stems, 6x clover leaves, 3x crude rope, 1x acorn shell
4. Locate the Hatchery Anthill near the Ranger Outpost, specifically at Snackbar, and descend to find the red soldier ant egg.
5. Carry the egg back to the hatchery and incubate it, requiring additional materials for a saddle: 2x grub hides, 3x sprigs, 1x acorn shell.
6. Wait for 12 in-game hours for the egg to hatch.

Once the incubation period is complete, players can enjoy the red soldier ant Buggy, which excels at transporting materials and navigating the park swiftly. While its combat abilities are limited, it can haul building supplies like grass planks and weed stems and chew through branch barricades.

Obtaining the Orb Weaver Spider Buggy

The second Buggy available is the orb weaver spider, suitable for players who are comfortable with arachnids. To unlock this mount, players must complete the Networking quest, which concludes the current storyline in early access. The steps are as follows:

1. Progress through the main missions until you reach the Networking quest.
2. Complete the Networking quest by entering the Network Centre within the Statue and defeating the boss.
3. Return the obtained optical disk to any Ranger Station.
4. Purchase the Orb Weaver Buggy bundle for 5,000 Real Science points at the Science Shop.
5. Craft a spider nest at your base using the following materials: 6x weed stems, 6x pine needles, 6x web fibre, and 4x silk rope (crafted at a spinning wheel).
6. Retrieve an orb weaver egg from the nest located under the Headless BURG.L at the center of the map, situated between the Snackbar and Ceremony regions.
7. After carrying the egg back to the hatchery, incubate it using these materials for a saddle: 3x blueberry leather, 4x red ant mandibles, 3x acorn shells.
8. Wait for 12 in-game hours for the orb weaver egg to hatch.

The orb weaver Buggy is designed for more combat-oriented gameplay, allowing players to traverse spider webs without hindrance and intimidate enemies with a roar. It can even use a web throw to entangle foes.

Managing Buggies and Material Collection

Players need not worry about the permanent demise of their Buggies. If a Buggy’s health is depleted, it will be temporarily incapacitated but can be revived—similar to another player. If not revived promptly, the Buggy will return to its nest at the player’s base to recover over a few minutes.

In the meantime, players can call upon other Buggies from their collection, which can be easily managed through a summon menu. This feature allows for a seamless transition during gameplay, ensuring that players remain engaged without significant interruptions.

As players embark on their adventures in Grounded 2, they will encounter various materials essential for crafting and upgrading their Buggies and bases. Notable materials include acorn tops, blueberry leather, and bombardier parts, each serving specific functions within the game.

In conclusion, the introduction of Buggies in Grounded 2 enriches the gameplay experience, offering new ways to explore and interact with the game’s environment. As more Buggies and features are introduced in future updates, players can look forward to an even more dynamic adventure in Brookhollow Park.
