Stars Dazzle on Red Carpet at Rain-Soaked 65th Logie Awards

UPDATE: The glitz and glamour of the 65th Logie Awards are unfolding now in Sydney, with Australia’s top television stars braving torrential rain and ongoing protests to shine on the red carpet. All eyes are on the seven nominees for the coveted Gold Logie, including last year’s winner Sonia Kruger and popular hosts Julia Morris and Hamish Blake.

LIVE UPDATE: The event, taking place tonight at 7 PM, showcases an impressive lineup of nominees including Lisa Millar, Lynne McGranger, Poh Ling Yeow, and Ally Langdon. Among them, Lynne McGranger is a standout, widely anticipated to win after stepping back from her long-time role on Home and Away earlier this year.

As the rain pours down, the stars are undeterred. Poh Ling Yeow and Julia Morris were seen sharing laughs and striking poses for cameras, dressed to impress in stunning outfits that reflect the event’s prestigious nature. Hamish Blake, the only male nominee for the Gold Logie, arrived looking sharp alongside his wife, Zoe Foster Blake.

Also capturing attention was Sophie Monk, who turned heads in a glamorous Hollywood-inspired gown reminiscent of Marilyn Monroe. The red carpet also welcomed beloved characters Bandit and Chilli from the acclaimed children’s series Bluey, which is nominated for Best Children’s Program.

This year’s ceremony promises excitement, with comedian Sam Pang returning as host for the third consecutive year. The night will feature live performances from rock icon Jimmy Barnes, singer-songwriter Richard Marx, and Guy Sebastian.

In a significant recognition, actress Magda Szubanski will be inducted into the Logies Hall of Fame, honoring nearly four decades of contributions to the Australian entertainment industry. This announcement comes shortly after Szubanski revealed her battle with stage four blood cancer, adding an emotional layer to the evening.

New this year is the Ray Martin Award for Most Popular News or Public Affairs Reporter, with nominees including Ally Langdon, Tara Brown, Peter Overton, and David Speers. The introduction of this award marks a shift towards recognizing excellence in news reporting.

Another highlight includes the limited Netflix series Apple Cider Vinegar, which has garnered eight nominations, spotlighting its story of wellness influencer Belle Gibson. The series is in contention for several major categories, including Best Lead Actress.

The 65th Logie Awards are being broadcast live on the Seven Network, and as the night unfolds, the anticipation continues to build. Stay tuned for more updates on winners and highlights as they happen!
