Final Weekend of the 2025 Premier Lacrosse League Season Approaches

The 2025 Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) season is set for an exciting conclusion as the final weekend approaches, featuring critical matchups that will determine playoff placements. The Denver Outlaws, New York Atlas, and Carolina Chaos have already secured their playoff spots, but three more teams, including the Boston Cannons, are fighting for the remaining berths. Four matches are scheduled for March 15 and 16, 2025, with the Cannons playing on both days as they strive to solidify their postseason position.

Key Matchups and Playoff Scenarios

The first game of the weekend will see the California Redwoods (4-5) face off against the Boston Cannons (4-4) on Friday at 6:30 p.m. ET, streamed live on ESPN+. The Redwoods can clinch a playoff berth through several scenarios, including a win against the Cannons or a loss by the Utah Archers that evening. Rookie sensation Chris Kavanagh is leading the Redwoods with impressive stats, including 31 points and 19 goals this season.

The Cannons, on the other hand, have multiple pathways to the playoffs. They can secure their place with a victory against the Redwoods, a win over Maryland on Saturday, or a combination of a loss by Philadelphia and a favorable score differential against the Waterdogs. Veteran player Marcus Holman, currently second on the all-time goals list with 356, aims to add to his tally and help the Cannons fight for a playoff spot.

Later on Friday, the Carolina Chaos (5-4) will challenge the Utah Archers (3-6) at 9:00 p.m. ET, available on ESPN2 and ESPN+. The Chaos are looking for their first playoff appearance and can secure a spot with a win. Blaze Riorden, a key player for the Chaos, ranks seventh on the all-time saves list, further emphasizing the stakes of this matchup.

Critical Showdowns to Watch

Saturday’s action kicks off with the Philadelphia Waterdogs (4-5) taking on the New York Atlas (6-3) at 1:00 p.m. ET on ABC and ESPN+. The Waterdogs need to win to keep their playoff hopes alive and can also qualify through a series of favorable outcomes. The star player CJ Kirst is coming off a standout week, having scored five goals, and will be crucial to their success.

The final game of the regular season features the Maryland Whipsnakes (3-6) against the Cannons in a high-stakes showdown on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. ET, streamed on ESPN+. The Whipsnakes can secure a playoff place with a win, depending on outcomes from other matches. Veteran Rob Pannell, who leads the PLL in career assists, is just two assists shy of hitting the 300 mark, adding a personal milestone to the team’s aspirations.

As the weekend unfolds, the playoff picture will become clearer, with teams vying for their chance in the 2026 Lexus Championship Series. The competition promises to be intense, with each matchup carrying significant implications for the teams involved. Fans can expect a thrilling finish to the regular season, as the stakes have never been higher for the teams battling for playoff glory.
