Laser ChargeCore SafeCharge Max 10K: A Reliable Travel Power Bank

The launch of the Laser ChargeCore SafeCharge Max 10K power bank introduces a compelling option for those seeking a reliable travel charger. Priced at AU$49.99, this power bank emphasizes safety and longevity through its innovative lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery technology.

Design and Features

At first glance, the SafeCharge Max 10K presents a straightforward design. It features a sturdy plastic casing, a prominent LED display indicating battery percentage, and three output ports—two USB-A and one USB-C. Its compact size, similar to an iPhone 15 but thicker, makes it portable enough for travel.

What distinguishes this model is its advanced battery technology. The LiFePO4 battery offers increased thermal stability compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries. This means a significantly reduced risk of overheating, making the SafeCharge Max 10K a safer choice for travelers. Notably, Qantus notes that lithium-ion batteries require declaration during check-in, whereas LiFePO4 batteries do not have the same restrictions.

Performance and Charging Capability

With a capacity of 10,000mAh, the power bank is theoretically capable of charging an iPhone 15 approximately three times. However, in practice, it charged the device just over 50% before needing a recharge. Laser claims the SafeCharge Max 10K can charge an iPhone 16 1.8 times and a modern Samsung Galaxy smartphone 1.5 times. These figures align with user experiences, demonstrating its practical utility.

Charging speed is another key aspect. The device supports a maximum output of 20W via USB-C, allowing for a half charge of an iPhone 16 in about 30 minutes. Personal testing confirmed this, with a 15% increase in battery life within five minutes and approximately 80% in under an hour.

The power bank also allows for simultaneous charging of multiple devices, aided by a universal 3-in-1 charging cable that accommodates USB-A, USB-C, Lightning, and Micro USB connections. Although the review unit did not include this cable, it performed well with standard USB cables, providing consistent energy without overheating.

Usability and Drawbacks

While the 10,000mAh capacity is adequate for users needing to charge a phone and accessories like AirPods, it may be limiting for those who carry multiple devices. The power bank’s LED display simplifies monitoring battery levels, although its design could be more efficient, as a large portion of the display area is underutilized.

Recharging the power bank itself takes a bit longer than some competitors, with a full charge taking over two hours. Laser estimates it could take up to five hours using a 10W wall adapter, indicating that users should plan accordingly.

Despite its lack of wireless charging capabilities—a feature some may expect at this price point—the SafeCharge Max 10K excels in its core mission: providing reliable wired charging for multiple devices.

In summary, the ChargeCore SafeCharge Max 10K stands out for its safety features and durability, making it a solid investment for consumers prioritizing longevity. While it may not feature every modern convenience, its value lies in its dependable performance and the peace of mind it offers, particularly for those concerned about battery safety during travel.
