UPDATE: The highly anticipated Cocktail Weekend is set to ignite Perth‘s vibrant cocktail scene next weekend, featuring a stellar lineup of the world’s most esteemed mixologists. Scheduled from Friday, October 27 to Saturday, October 28, this event will showcase the city’s top bars, including Terrarium, Mechanics Institute, Bar Lafayette, and the Ritz Carlton’s Songbird.

On Friday evening, Songbird will host a special collaboration with Sago House, one of Asia’s premier bars. Guest bartenders Naz Zurmi and Ronan Keilthy will craft extraordinary cocktails, promising “good cocktails and good vibes,” according to venue supervisor Kristen Sly.

“This is an awesome opportunity to display cocktails from both Australia and Asia,” Sly emphasized. The excitement is palpable, with local bars teaming up to bring new flavors to Perth. Terrarium will collaborate with Sydney’s Bar DEMO, while Mechanics Institute partners with A Little Cooler. Meanwhile, Bar Lafayette joins forces with Hobart’s Rude Boy, utilizing native ingredients to create uniquely Australian cocktails.

“It’s almost like we’re transporting people to Hobart without needing to take a flight for six or seven hours,” said Marco Manca from Bar Lafayette. Perth’s cocktail community is thriving, and Manca is eager to showcase the creativity that the city has to offer.

Sly noted the growing demand for craft cocktails in Perth. “We sell many espresso martinis and spicy margaritas, but it’s also important to highlight creative twists in those classics,” she stated. The event underscores a shift towards intricate cocktail craftsmanship, as Manca pointed out: “Cocktails are more than just a liquid; it’s about the details.”

The energy surrounding this year’s Cocktail Weekend reflects a broader trend in the beverage industry, with patrons seeking unique experiences and flavors. “Our mission is to make classic cocktails with a twist,” Manca expressed, highlighting the aim to elevate expectations of what a cocktail can be.

As excitement builds for the Cocktail Weekend, cocktail enthusiasts are encouraged to secure their spots early, as this event promises to be a highlight of Perth’s social calendar.
