Sharks Announce Justin Abrams as New Coach for 2026 Season

BREAKING NEWS: The Point Cook Centrals have officially announced that Justin Abrams will take the helm as head coach for the 2026 Western Football League season. This urgent update comes after the club confirmed that Dean Chambers will not continue in his role, prompting an early search for a new leader.

The Sharks made the announcement on social media, emphasizing Abrams’ “extraordinary depth of experience” and his “proven leadership.” They stated, “Justin joins us with an unwavering passion for the game.” His coaching philosophy focuses on fostering a relentless drive for excellence, a commitment to player development, and building a winning culture through hard work and discipline.

Currently serving as the general manager of business operations at the Werribee Football Club (VFL), Abrams has a rich coaching background that spans multiple leagues, including the VFL, AFL Talent League, and regional leagues such as Bendigo and Ballarat. The Sharks are optimistic about the future under his guidance, believing he will lead them toward a culture of determination and success.

The announcement comes at a time when the Sharks are looking to enhance opportunities for their young talent. As they head into the final round of the current season, the club is in 12th place, with no threat of relegation this year due to the addition of three new teams to the league. However, the recent match against Caroline Springs proved challenging, with the Sharks suffering a heavy defeat of 26.13 (169) to 3.6 (24). Despite the loss, players Luke Henderson, Josh Gerolemou, and Nathan Williams were recognized as the team’s best performers.

The Sharks will conclude their season against the finals-bound Yarraville Seddon Eagles this Saturday, marking an important transition period as they prepare for the upcoming season with Abrams at the helm. Fans are eagerly anticipating the changes he will bring to the club.

Stay tuned for further updates as the Sharks embark on this exciting new chapter with Justin Abrams leading the way into the 2026 season.
