BODYROK, a fitness studio renowned for its high-intensity, low-impact reformer workouts, has officially opened its first location in South Florida, situated in Coconut Grove. Known for its success in New York and California, BODYROK aims to offer a structured approach to Pilates-inspired fitness under the guidance of owners and operators, Jordi Dalmau and his mother Beatriz Salume. Dalmau, a lifelong Miami native and former Division I football player, and Salume, a former Division I tennis player, bring their athletic backgrounds to a fitness environment designed for all levels.
Each BODYROK session lasts 45 minutes and is conducted on custom-made reformers unique to the brand. What distinguishes BODYROK is its carefully crafted programming, which emphasizes variety and measurable results. The studio features seven rotating workout formats, including “Flow,” which focuses on control and fluidity, and “Buns & Guns,” which targets arms and glutes. Other formats include “Obliques & Cheeks,” “Six-Packs & Backs,” and “Core & Cardio,” which incorporates BODYROK’s proprietary jump board.
The structured approach prevents repetitiveness and overtraining. Classes rotate themes daily, ensuring that every session feels fresh and challenging. This system is inspired by athletic training principles, allowing clients to achieve comprehensive conditioning and proper muscle recovery over time. Dalmau expressed his enthusiasm for BODYROK’s methodology, stating, “You know what muscles you’re training, you can plan your week, and you’re not guessing.”
The transition from high-impact gym workouts to BODYROK’s low-impact exercises aligns with Dalmau’s focus on strength, mobility, flexibility, and injury prevention. He emphasizes that the goal is not to chase trends but to build sustainable strength that benefits participants long-term.
Inclusivity is a core aspect of BODYROK’s programming. Instructors offer three options for every movement: a standard version, an amplified version, and a modification, catering to professional athletes, beginners, and older adults alike. In-studio screens display workout instructions, enhancing understanding and confidence among participants.
Dalmau recognizes the intimidation often associated with fitness, particularly in a bustling city like Miami. “For me, the most important thing is that people feel welcome,” he stated. The studio embodies this philosophy, featuring an energetic atmosphere with vibrant music and a thoughtfully designed front area to enhance the overall experience.
Coconut Grove was a strategic choice for BODYROK’s Miami debut, as it is a neighborhood committed to wellness and community. The studio, located in CocoWalk, offers 90 minutes of validated parking, making it accessible for local commuters and visitors.
Looking ahead, BODYROK has already commenced construction on a second location in Edgewater, set to open in summer 2026, with plans for further expansion throughout Miami-Dade County. Dalmau encapsulates the studio’s mission, stating, “At the end of the day, fitness should empower you. If people leave feeling stronger, confident, and supported, that’s success.”
