Jane the Bakery to Open New Location at San Francisco MoMA

Jane the Bakery is set to open its newest location at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SF MoMA) in August 2025. This new outpost will take over the space previously occupied by Grace, and it will join other dining options within the museum, including Cafe 5 and Steps Coffee.

The bakery, founded by Amanda Michael in February 2011, first opened its doors on Fillmore Street. Named after her daughter, Jane the Bakery has grown significantly since its inception and will now mark its seventh location with the upcoming SF MoMA site. The expansion reflects the brand’s commitment to providing high-quality baked goods to a wider audience.

Bakery’s Philosophy and Offerings

At Jane the Bakery, the focus is on artisanal bread-making. The bakery prides itself on offering an extensive range of products, including sourdoughs, whole grain loaves, baguettes, and gluten-free options. According to the bakery’s website, “We bake several dozen breads in-house daily as well as a full line of laminated items and pastries.” This dedication to quality has helped establish Jane the Bakery as a reputable name in San Francisco’s culinary scene.

“Our breads and pastries have quickly gained recognition as some of the best you can find,” the bakery states.

Despite inquiries from What Now San Francisco, Amanda Michael was unable to provide further details about the new location at the time of publication. The anticipation surrounding Jane the Bakery’s opening at SF MoMA indicates a growing interest in the intersection of art and food, as visitors will soon have the opportunity to enjoy fresh baked goods in a cultural setting.

Those interested in following updates about this development can find more information on the What Now San Francisco Facebook page. The addition of Jane the Bakery to SF MoMA not only enhances the museum’s dining options but also reinforces the importance of local businesses in contributing to the vibrant atmosphere of San Francisco.
