A new Dunkin’ coffee and donut shop is set to replace the former Shiny Happy Car Wash at 270 S. Havana Street in Aurora, Colorado. According to permitting records, the new establishment will be located near the intersection of E. Alameda Avenue and S. Havana Street. The existing 1,152-square-foot car wash structure will be demolished to make way for a smaller, 1,000-square-foot Dunkin’ featuring both a drive-through and a walk-up window.
The project has been submitted by Aaron Barnhart of Wallace Design Collective. The application also lists Jake Gdowski, a local multi-unit franchisee affiliated with Dunkin’. As part of the permitting process, various fees totaling over $20,000 have been paid. The application has been accepted by the Aurora Planning Department and has undergone multiple review cycles.
While some elements of the project remain under review or require further corrections, the timeline for the construction and opening of the new Dunkin’ remains unclear. Neither the franchise owner nor Dunkin’ has responded to requests for comment regarding the project’s estimated timeline.
The transformation of this site reflects a growing trend in the area towards quick-service dining options, as local demand for coffee and convenience continues to rise. The new Dunkin’ aims to cater to both morning commuters and local residents seeking easy access to their favorite beverages and snacks.
As the project progresses, it is expected to generate interest in the local community, both for its anticipated offerings and for the ongoing revitalization of the area. Further updates are likely as the application moves through the remaining review processes.
