A new culinary experience is on the horizon for Roseville, California. Mati Modern Greek Cuisine is set to replace Pete’s Restaurant & Brewhouse at 3003 Douglas Blvd within the Olympus Corporate Centre. The announcement comes from the Sacramento Business Journal, revealing that owners Bulent Ozel and his business partners aim to open the restaurant by December 2025 or January 2026.
Mati will introduce a fresh take on Greek cuisine, moving beyond traditional offerings such as gyros and shawarma. Instead, the menu will feature contemporary dishes, including lamb meatballs, grilled branzino, Greek salad, and house-made pita. Patrons can also look forward to a selection of handcrafted cocktails, making Mati a versatile dining venue for both business meetings and romantic dinners.
Ozel, originally from Turkey, brings significant experience to this venture. He co-owns Rose Park Bistro in Roseville and Fiori Italian Bistro in Folsom. His previous restaurant in Burlingame served as a foundation for his current partnership, which includes a Turkish partner and another who is of mixed Greek and Turkish heritage. This diverse background is expected to enrich the restaurant’s offerings.
With a focus on creating an inviting atmosphere, the interior of Mati will incorporate warm, Greek-inspired touches. The aim is to develop a space that balances casual dining with elegance, catering to a wide range of customers.
Once operational, Mati is projected to employ approximately 60 people, contributing to the local economy and job market. As the Roseville community awaits the opening, excitement grows for this new establishment that promises to deliver an authentic taste of Greece.
