Firefighters Contain Stubble Fire in Inverleigh, 40 Hectares Affected

A significant stubble fire broke out in Inverleigh on the afternoon of March 15, 2024, prompting a rapid response from firefighting teams. Over 100 firefighters from the Country Fire Authority (CFA) worked diligently to combat the blaze, which scorched approximately 40 hectares of land.

The CFA received the emergency call around midday, mobilizing resources to address the rapidly spreading flames. Firefighters faced challenging conditions as they battled the fire, which threatened nearby properties and natural habitats.

Efforts to Contain the Blaze

Fire crews deployed a variety of firefighting techniques, including aerial water bombers and ground units. The CFA reported that their coordinated efforts successfully contained the fire by early evening, preventing further damage to surrounding areas.

Local authorities emphasized the importance of fire safety, particularly during this period of dry weather conditions that heighten fire risks. The CFA urged residents to remain vigilant and report any signs of fire activity immediately.

Community Impact and Response

The fire prompted the temporary evacuation of some residents in the vicinity while firefighters worked to bring the situation under control. Local community members expressed appreciation for the swift action taken by the CFA and the support from neighboring fire services.

No injuries were reported, and investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing. The CFA continues to monitor the area for any potential flare-ups, ensuring that the threat is fully extinguished.

Authorities remind the public to adhere to fire safety regulations and to check local resources for updates on fire risk levels. As the situation develops, more information will be provided to ensure community safety and awareness.
