A new opportunity for community leaders in South East Australia has emerged with the launch of a free development course. The Future Impact Community Leadership program, designed to enhance leadership skills, is set to begin next month. This initiative, delivered by Leadership Victoria in collaboration with the Greater Dandenong and Casey councils, aims to foster growth among leaders from various sectors, including business, community organizations, and public services.
The course spans five days and will combine both online and in-person sessions. Participants will engage in diverse activities that focus on enhancing leadership capabilities, establishing meaningful relationships, and navigating complex situations. Enrollees will also gain access to the Leadership Victoria learning management system for six months, which offers evidence-based readings, course materials, and reflective practice exercises.
Sophie Tan, Deputy Mayor of Greater Dandenong, emphasized the program’s value, stating, “The Future Impact Community Leadership program presents a great opportunity for residents to strengthen their leadership and deepen their impact.” She added that the initiative is designed to bring together a wide range of participants, equipping them to drive change in their communities both now and in the future.
The program aims to reflect the diversity of the community it serves. Individuals from all backgrounds—regardless of abilities, sexual orientations, or cultural and linguistic heritages—are encouraged to apply. This inclusivity is crucial as the program seeks to build a cohort that mirrors the vibrant fabric of the South East region.
Applications for the program are open until September 14, 2023. Interested individuals can find more information and submit their applications at leadershipvictoria.org/future-impact-community-leadership-program. This initiative not only promotes personal growth among participants but also aims to enhance the overall leadership landscape in the South East community.
