Man Dies After Public Water Rescue at Trial Bay Beach

A man in his 80s has died following a water rescue at Trial Bay Beach on the Mid North Coast of Australia. The incident occurred on January 26, 2026, at approximately 11:10 AM when emergency services received reports concerning an individual’s wellbeing.

Upon arrival, officers from the Mid North Coast Police District found the man unresponsive after he had been pulled from the water by members of the public. Despite immediate treatment from NSW Ambulance paramedics, the man could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.

This tragic event has prompted an investigation by local authorities. The police are working to gather further details about the circumstances leading to the man’s distress in the water. A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner, who will investigate the cause of death.
