Perth’s Double Firework Spectacular Welcomes 2026 with Thrills

Perth is gearing up for a spectacular New Year’s Eve celebration as the city prepares to welcome 2026 with a vibrant array of activities. The event will include roving performers, floating-stage DJ sets, food trucks, and a dedicated Lotterywest Family Fun Zone that features free carnival rides. The highlight of the night will be two impressive firework displays at Elizabeth Quay, with the first set to launch at 20:30 and the grand midnight show marking the arrival of the new year.

City of Perth Lord Mayor Bruce Reynolds expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming festivities, stating, “Each year, our family-friendly celebrations attract thousands of people into the City, and this year’s event will be even bigger and better.” The fireworks at Elizabeth Quay will serve as a focal point, drawing crowds and creating a lively atmosphere.

The celebrations will extend beyond Elizabeth Quay to include Barrack Square, where guests can enjoy an interactive circus and cabaret-style aerial performances prior to the midnight fireworks. A variety of food trucks will be available, ensuring attendees have plenty of options to choose from as they revel in the festivities.

For families, the Lotterywest Family Fun Zone located in Supreme Court Gardens will provide a perfect retreat. This area will feature free rides and shaded seating, alongside a selection of food trucks. Lord Mayor Reynolds also noted, “If the crowds at Elizabeth Quay aren’t your thing, the fireworks can also be seen and heard from a special vantage point in Birdiya Drive near the Convention Centre.”

For those seeking a different atmosphere, Northbridge will host its own midnight firework display, and numerous city restaurants will remain open throughout the evening. “There’s no shortage of entertainment,” Reynolds added. “Come for the fireworks and stay to enjoy everything Elizabeth Quay has to offer, from delicious food trucks to our world-class restaurants and bars.”

To facilitate travel, buses and trains will operate all night, with free transport available from midnight until 06:00 on January 1, 2026. Attendees should be aware that road closures across the Perth CBD may impact their journeys. The local transport authority, Transperth, encourages passengers to have their SmartRider cards ready or to utilize the new contactless payment system, accepting Visa, Mastercard, or digital wallets for seamless payment.

As Perth gears up for this exciting celebration, residents and visitors alike can look forward to a memorable night filled with entertainment, community spirit, and dazzling fireworks illuminating the sky as the city welcomes a new year.
