The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested two 17-year-old males following a significant disturbance in Santa Teresa on the afternoon of March 12, 2024. The incident, which involved a large group of individuals, began around 13:00 local time at a residence in the community.
According to reports, the altercation started between two female family members and escalated to include their male partners. During the confrontation, a 19-year-old female sustained a head injury after being struck with a rock. In a separate act of violence, one of the 17-year-old males allegedly assaulted a 39-year-old female with an edged weapon, resulting in a laceration to her leg. The second teenager is accused of throwing rocks at a nearby vehicle, causing significant damage.
As the situation escalated, police arrived on the scene and observed a crowd of up to 100 people involved in the fighting. The group reportedly began throwing rocks at police vehicles, prompting the need for additional police resources. Officers managed to disperse the crowd without further incident. The injured female victim was taken to the local clinic for treatment of her non-life-threatening injuries.
Both 17-year-old males were located later and taken into custody. They face multiple charges, including Aggravated Assault, Possess Carry Use a Controlled Weapon, and Causing Damage to Property. They are scheduled to appear in court on January 29, 2026, and have been remanded in custody.
