Authorities are investigating an incident involving a child who was approached by an unknown man in East Albury. The event reportedly took place around 13:00 on February 1, 2026, on Walsh Street, where the man, driving a white Toyota Hi-Ace van, allegedly called for the child to enter his vehicle. The child refused and subsequently reported the encounter.
Following this alarming incident, officers from the Murray River Police District began their investigation. In a timely response to the situation, police issued an appeal for public assistance. This led to a breakthrough when a man in his 40s voluntarily presented himself at the Albury Police Station later that evening, around 20:00 on the same day.
Detectives conducted an interview with the man, who has since been released pending further inquiries. The police are continuing their investigation and are keen to gather more information.
