Authorities in South Brisbane are investigating a series of property offences involving multiple vehicle thefts over the past nine days. Between December 16 and December 24, 2023, several properties have been broken into, with up to eight vehicles reported stolen from residential areas.
Details of the Incidents
Initial investigations indicate that a group of individuals were active in the area, stealing vehicles and attempting to break into homes. On December 16, between midnight and 2:00 AM, the group stole a black Skoda Kodiaq from an address on Apex Street in Balmoral. Shortly thereafter, at approximately 2:15 AM, they attempted to gain entry to a property on Phalerum Avenue in Seven Hills, where they managed to steal car keys but did not take a vehicle.
Following this, the suspects broke into several vehicles in Hawthorne in the early hours of the same day and were also involved in a fuel theft incident at Darra. Authorities believe that this group made further attempts to enter three homes located in Seven Hills and Morningside that night.
Later that evening, they successfully stole a blue Porsche Macan station wagon and a grey Audi E-Tron station wagon from an address on Arbour Street in Sherwood. The Audi was recovered later that day at West End.
Recent Developments and Ongoing Investigations
On December 20, at around 2:00 AM, the same group is thought to be responsible for the theft of a grey Hyundai i30 hatchback from an address on Ara Street in Camp Hill. The situation escalated on December 24, when four homes were broken into across Murarrie, Cannon Hill, and Hawthorne in the early hours. During these incidents, a black Mercedes-Benz C300T station wagon was reported stolen from Katoomba Avenue.
Police are urging anyone with information about these property offences or who may have seen any of the stolen vehicles to come forward. The incident numbers for reference are QI2502307920, QP2502300606, QP2502307137, and QP2502356956.
