Patients who received cosmetic procedures at the Lanzer Clinics have until 16:00 on April 10, 2024, to register for a class action lawsuit set for trial in the Supreme Court of Victoria this September. The lawsuit claims that Dr. Daniel Lanzer and several of his colleagues, including Dr. Daniel Aronov, Dr. Ryan Wells, Dr. Alieza Fallahi, Dr. George Wong, and Dr. Daniel Darbyshire, engaged in misleading and negligent practices during cosmetic surgeries. Many former patients now report ongoing pain and injuries.
The class action also names Candice Wainstein, a psychologist and the wife of Dr. Aronov, as a defendant. Kathryn Emeny, principal at Maddens Lawyers, who is spearheading the class action, noted that the Lanzer Clinics have locations across Australia, including Malvern, Sydney, Surrey Hills, Salisbury, Broadbeach, Perth, and Subiaco.
“If you underwent cosmetic surgery at one of the Lanzer Clinics performed by any of the named defendants and experienced a negative outcome, you may be eligible to claim compensation,” Emeny stated. The procedures in question include liposuction, gynecomastia, otoplasty, tummy tucks, facelifts, and breast augmentation.
The response to the class action has been significant, with approximately 2,500 former patients already registering. “It is alarming that so many individuals report negative experiences at the Lanzer Clinics,” Emeny remarked. Registrations have come from a diverse group, with both males and females reporting unsatisfactory results. Some individuals have sustained serious injuries, including nerve damage and scarring, while others require corrective surgeries.
The class action seeks a full refund for the cost of surgery, as well as compensation for pain, suffering, distress, and reimbursement for aftercare expenses and lost income. “It is crucial to register by April 10 if you wish to be eligible for any settlement that may occur before the trial,” Emeny emphasized. “We need to understand the circumstances of those affected to secure compensation on their behalf. The time to act is now.”
Mediation is scheduled for May as part of the proceedings. Maddens Lawyers will handle the class action on a “no win, no fee” basis, ensuring that registration is confidential and can be completed online without risk or obligation.
