Abbie Chatfield and Keli Holiday Respond to Online Trolls Over Love

Abbie Chatfield and Keli Holiday, a prominent couple in Australia’s entertainment scene, have publicly addressed the negative comments they have received regarding their relationship. Since announcing their relationship in 2024, the pair has shared numerous affectionate posts, showcasing their strong bond and passion for each other. Keli’s song “Dancing2,” dedicated to Abbie, has resonated with fans and won an ARIA award in 2025, further cementing their status as a beloved couple.

Despite their success and the outpouring of support from fans, the couple has also faced backlash from online trolls. Some critics have labelled Keli as a “cuck,” a term defined by Merriam-Webster as “a weak or submissive man.” This derogatory label has been used in conjunction with their public displays of affection, suggesting that Keli’s love for Abbie diminishes his masculinity.

Public Response to Online Criticism

During a recent appearance at the 2025 ARIA Awards, Keli Holiday shared his thoughts on the online negativity. He found the hate amusing, stating, “If I were to write something on someone’s video that I don’t know, telling them they suck, I’d turn around and look at myself in the mirror and cry.” Keli emphasized that he does not take the trolling to heart, saying, “I don’t really give a shit.”

Abbie also weighed in on the criticism directed at her. She noted that some individuals have accused her of controlling Keli, a sentiment she found puzzling. “There was a video recently where the guy was just watching a video of us… and he goes, ‘We are watching the destruction of a man at the hands of Abbie Chatfield,’” she explained. Keli added, “They think that she’s holding me captive,” highlighting the absurdity of such claims.

Reframing Relationship Norms

Both Abbie and Keli have reframed the narrative surrounding their relationship. Abbie pointed out how societal expectations often view love and affection as weaknesses, particularly for men. “Yeah, if you’re weak to love loudly, then call me a piss ant ‘cos I’m weak as shit,” Keli remarked, underscoring the importance of expressing love without fear of judgment.

Commenting on the derogatory labels, Keli described the “Peking Cuck” comments as “a good play on words,” while Abbie found the insults humorous. “I don’t know why they think it’s an insult. I think they’re all little cucks, and they’re ashamed of their own cuckdom,” she stated, asserting that embracing such terms can signify a deeper understanding of love.

Keli also connected the negativity surrounding the term “cuck” to broader cultural discussions, suggesting that it reflects the rhetoric prominent among certain political factions. “I think it also comes from like the whole Trump rhetoric thing, right?” he noted, suggesting that some of the backlash stems from outdated views on masculinity and relationships.

The couple’s openness about their love and defiance in the face of criticism has resonated with many fans. Their message encourages individuals to embrace love in all its forms, regardless of societal expectations. As they continue to share their journey together, Chatfield and Holiday stand as advocates for expressing affection without reservation, inspiring others to do the same.
