Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz Discuss Return for Fourth Mummy Film

Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are reportedly in discussions to return for a fourth installment of the popular *The Mummy* film series. Both actors are well-known for their roles in the original trilogy, which was released in cinemas from March 1999 to July 2008. Fraser starred as the adventurous hero, while Weisz played his love interest in the first two films.

The potential reunion is generating excitement among fans, with multiple sources confirming the talks to *Deadline*. While specific plot details remain undisclosed, the involvement of key creatives indicates a strong foundation for the project.

New Creative Team Takes Charge

The upcoming film will be directed by Radio Silence, a filmmaking duo comprised of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, known for their work on the *Scream* franchise. The script will be penned by David Coggeshall, with *Sean Daniel*, who produced all three previous films—*The Mummy*, *The Mummy Returns*, and *The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor*—expected to return as a producer.

Daniel’s extensive experience with the franchise could provide continuity and depth, appealing to long-time fans. Additionally, *Project X* team members James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Paul Neinstein are on board to produce the film, further enhancing its production pedigree.

Fraser’s Past Experience on Set

In a recent interview, Fraser reflected on a near-fatal incident while filming the original *The Mummy* in 1999. He described how a stunt went awry, nearly leading to his strangulation. On *The Kelly Clarkson Show*, he recounted, “I was choked out accidentally… I was on my toes with the rope around my neck.” He noted that he was trying to deliver a convincing performance when the situation became dangerous.

Fraser’s candid recounting highlights the physical demands of action films and the risks actors often face on set. Despite these challenges, he remains enthusiastic about the possibility of revisiting his iconic role.

Universal Pictures has not commented on the speculation surrounding the new *Mummy* movie. As discussions continue, fans await further updates on this promising reunion, which could mark a significant chapter in the beloved franchise’s history.

As the film industry evolves, Fraser and Weisz’s potential return may reinvigorate interest in the series, appealing to both nostalgic audiences and a new generation of viewers.
