Channel 10 has officially announced that David Genat will be the new host of Australian Survivor, following his recent exit as a contestant from Survivor: Australia V The World. In a statement confirming the news, Channel 10 expressed their enthusiasm, stating, “10 is thrilled to confirm the ‘Golden God’ — David Genat — will be at the helm, commentating every challenge and tribal council as castaways battle it out for the title of Sole Survivor in Australian Survivor: Redemption.” Filming for the twelfth season is already underway.
Reflecting on his new role, Genat remarked, “Getting to come back as host after playing three times is such an honour. But Survivor is not about me; it’s about the incredible players who put everything on the line to outwit, outplay, and outlast.” He expressed excitement for fans to meet the new cast of contestants in the upcoming season.
Changes in Hosting Duties
The announcement follows the recent departure of long-time host Jonathan LaPaglia, who had been with the show since its inception in 2016. In an Instagram post, he shared, “I received a call from the Network thanking me for all my hard work and dedication to the show, but for next season they are ‘going in a different direction.’”
