The final weekend for the acclaimed musical, Georgy Girl, The Seekers Musical, is set to take place at the Princess Theatre until October 25. This production by the Encore Theatre Company depicts the rise of the iconic Australian band, The Seekers, featuring members Judith Durham, Athol Guy, Keith Potger, and Bruce Woodley. Wine and Culture Festivals Highlight Tasmania

From October 24 to 26, the Great Eastern Wine Week will unfold along Tasmania’s East Coast. Theatre and Arts: Upcoming Performances and Exhibitions

Running from October 23 to 26, the powerful play Wittenoom tells the story of the blue asbestos mining town in Western Australia’s Pilbara region. This production, performed by Launceston artists Kerri Gay and Grace Roberts, focuses on the impact of corporate greed on local communities. The collaboration between Mudlark Theatre and IO Performance brings this intimate narrative to the Earl Arts Centre with performances scheduled for 14:00 and 19:30. Additionally, from October 24 to November 19, four contemporary artists from the northern branch of Stitching & Beyond Inc. will exhibit works in a textiles exhibition titled Opus #4: Variations in Stitch at Harmony on High Street in Campbell Town. The exhibition explores landscape themes through various textile forms, showcasing the artists’ commitment to repurposing materials. The opening event will be held on October 26 at 14:30, featuring light refreshments and an opportunity to meet the artists.

Lastly, from November 1 to 3, Pearn’s Steam World will host a family-friendly festival celebrating steam-powered technology. The event will include model engines, steam train rides, and demonstrations from a working blacksmith. Special features this year include early Land Rovers and a new steam punk activity on Saturday, along with an animal nursery on Sunday. The festival runs daily from 09:30 to 15:30, with entry fees set at $10 for adults and $5 for children.

These events reflect the vibrant cultural scene in Tasmania, offering a range of activities for residents and visitors alike. Whether enjoying musical performances, engaging in community events, or exploring the arts, there is something for everyone to experience this October.
