Fallout Star Aaron Moten Refuses to Play His Own Game Franchise

Aaron Moten, known for his role as Maximus in the popular series Fallout, has made a surprising revelation about his gaming habits. Although he identifies as a gamer and enjoys video games, he has decided to avoid playing any of the titles within the Fallout franchise, despite its immense popularity.

In an interview with GamesRadar, Moten explained his reasons for this choice. “I really enjoy taking a break from watching TV and movies. It’s work for me, and I have a hard time turning that brain off when becoming a viewer,” he stated. Instead of immersing himself in the games, he prefers to watch others play through platforms like Twitch.

Reflections on Character Development

Moten’s decision stems partially from his commitment to his role and the depth of the characters he portrays. “Partly, I forbid myself from playing it at this point. It’s our job to bring a sense of humanity to these three characters,” he added. In the series, Moten plays a former knight in the Brotherhood of Steel, a faction that has a significant place within the gaming universe.

Among the three main characters in the show, only Walton Goggins‘ character, known as The Ghoul, has made an appearance in the gaming franchise. The Ghoul was introduced in the Fallout 76 expansion titled Burning Springs, released last year. Meanwhile, Maximus, along with Lucy MacLean, played by Ella Purnell, has yet to be featured in any console games, although Maximus has been briefly seen in the Fallout Shelter mobile game.

Future of the Series

The recently aired Season 2 finale of Fallout has sparked excitement among fans by revealing that a supporting character’s role is more critical to the overall story than previously indicated. Additionally, the finale hinted at the potential for a larger faction war, expanding the narrative beyond what has been portrayed in the first two seasons.

Following this successful season, Prime Video has already renewed the series for a third season. While a specific return date for new episodes has not yet been announced, the anticipation among the fanbase continues to grow.

As the series unfolds and the gaming franchise develops, it remains to be seen how Moten’s decision to abstain from playing the games will impact his portrayal of Maximus and the overarching narrative of Fallout.
