Jeff Lynne’s ELO Concert Set to Proceed After Last-Minute Cancellation

Jeff Lynne’s Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) is expected to perform their final concert at BST Hyde Park in London on Sunday, July 13, 2025, following a last-minute cancellation of their show at Co-Op Live in Manchester. This cancellation occurred on Thursday, July 10, just minutes before ELO was scheduled to take the stage due to Lynne’s illness, raising concerns among fans about the future of their farewell tour.

After the Manchester concert was called off, fans took to social media platforms seeking clarity about the upcoming performance in London. In response, the event’s social media team assured fans that the show at Hyde Park is still planned to proceed as scheduled. The official BST account stated, “Jeff Lynne was unwell and unable to perform on Thursday, July 10. We are advised that there are currently no concerns regarding Sunday’s performance.”

The unexpected cancellation left fans disappointed, particularly as many had already taken their seats when the announcement was made. The band confirmed the situation through their social media accounts, stating, “Unfortunately, due to illness, tonight’s scheduled performance of Jeff Lynne’s ELO at Co-Op Live will not be going ahead. Jeff is devastated he cannot perform this evening. More information will become available as soon as possible. For refunds, please go to your point of purchase.”

Excitement Builds for Final Show at Hyde Park

At 77 years old, Lynne has expressed that performing at BST Hyde Park for the final show of their farewell tour feels particularly significant. He previously noted that this venue marks a poignant return to where ELO staged their first concert in 25 years back in 2014. Lynne remarked, “My return to touring began at Hyde Park in 2014. It seems like the perfect place to do our final show. We couldn’t be more excited to share this special night in London with our UK fans. As the song goes, ‘we’re gonna do it One More Time!’”

Jim King, CEO of European Festivals at AEG Presents, emphasized the band’s global appeal, stating, “Jeff Lynne’s ELO are loved the world over. The live shows are nothing short of extraordinary and a testament to the incredible catalogue of hits we’ve enjoyed for over 50 years. Hosting their final performance at BST Hyde Park is a true honour, especially 30 years after their first festival show in the same park. We’re excited to be part of this special moment in music history.”

Founded in 1970 by Jeff Lynne, Roy Wood of Wizzard, and Bev Bevan, ELO has been a significant force in the music industry. The group featured keyboardist Richard Tandy, who passed away in May 2023 at the age of 76. As they prepare for their final concert, anticipation builds among fans eager to witness this historic moment in live music.
