Lili Reinhart is set to star in the film adaptation of *The Love Hypothesis*, based on the best-selling novel by Ali Hazelwood. The 28-year-old actress will not only headline the cast but also serve as an executive producer for the project, produced by Amazon MGM Studios and MRC.
The film follows the story of Olive Smith, a Biology PhD candidate, and Dr. Adam Carlsen, a demanding professor. Together, they enter into a fake romance that ultimately complicates their theories on love. Claire Scanlon will direct the film, with a screenplay written by Sarah Rothschild, known for her work on *The Sleepover*. Elizabeth Cantillon will produce, alongside Reinhart and Hazelwood as executive producers.
In a statement announcing the project, Hazelwood expressed her excitement, saying, “Honestly, I still can’t believe this is happening. Elizabeth Cantillon, Claire Scanlon, and Lili Reinhart have all created, produced, or starred in works that I’m absolutely feral about. I am beyond honoured that they’re choosing to bring their talent to this project.” She further emphasized her trust in the creative team, eager to see the final product and hoping they enjoy the process as much as she did while writing the book.
Reinhart’s Upcoming Projects
The announcement of *The Love Hypothesis* comes shortly after it was revealed that Reinhart will star alongside Paul Walter Hauser in the comedy thriller *The Very Best People*. This film marks the directorial debut of Brian Swibel, with production slated to begin in New York on May 22, 2024.
While specific plot details remain under wraps, *The Very Best People* is based on John Lavelle’s stage play of the same name. The film is set in a Staten Island pub and follows two childhood friends who, after the mysterious shooting of a disgraced NYPD detective, embark on a misguided mission for redemption. Armed with conspiracy theories, they confront the so-called “Deep State,” which leads to a series of absurd and violent events, including a light-hearted kidnapping.
Lavelle is also writing the film’s script in collaboration with Craig Cox, known for his work on *Blades of Glory*. The project will be produced by Brent Emery, Justin Klosky, Alex Peace-Power, Tara Smith, and Bita Khorrami for Swibel’s Triptyk Studios, alongside Bonnie Timmermann.
As Reinhart continues to expand her filmography, both *The Love Hypothesis* and *The Very Best People* showcase her versatility and growing influence in the film industry. These projects highlight her ability to take on diverse roles, keeping fans eagerly anticipating her future performances.
