Warner Bros. has unveiled new cast members for the highly anticipated Harry Potter TV series, set to debut in 2027. Among the latest additions is Anton Lesser, known for his role as Qyburn in Game of Thrones, who will portray Garrick Ollivander, the renowned wandmaker and owner of Ollivanders wand shop. The character was previously played by the late John Hurt in the original film series.
Production has commenced at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, Hertfordshire, and the series promises to be a faithful adaptation of the beloved books by author and executive producer J.K. Rowling. The recent casting announcement follows the addition of nine actors last month, further enriching the series’ lineup.
Among the newcomers are Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, and Louise Brealey as Madam Rolanda Hooch. Additionally, Katherine Parkinson will take on the role of Molly Weasley, while Bertie Carvel is set to portray Cornelius Fudge. Other key characters will be played by Lox Pratt and Johnny Flynn, who will portray Draco and Lucius Malfoy, respectively.
The central trio of the series will feature Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. Francesca Gardiner, the showrunner and executive producer, along with fellow executive producer Mark Mylod, expressed their excitement about the casting. They noted, “After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron.”
In addition to the main cast, John Lithgow will portray Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer will play Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu will take on Severus Snape, and Nick Frost will appear as Rubeus Hagrid. Recurring roles will include Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell and Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch.
The broad casting initiative reflects the show’s commitment to discovering talent, with Gardiner and Mylod thanking the “tens of thousands of children who auditioned.” As the series progresses, fans of the franchise are eager to see how these new actors will bring the magic of Harry Potter to life on screen.
