Perth is set to vibrate with energy as the WA Day festival returns, featuring an impressive lineup of local talent and renowned artists. Scheduled for November 22 and 23, 2025, the event will take place at Burswood Park and is expected to draw large crowds for a weekend of free entertainment.

Creative Industries Minister Simone McGurk announced the festival’s lineup on Saturday, describing it as an “enormous lineup” that highlights the diversity of Western Australian music. “Celebrate WA is really all about, as the name implies, acknowledging, celebrating everything that’s special about our State,” she stated. The festival will showcase genres ranging from rock and indie to hip hop and First Nations music, offering something for everyone.

The two-day concert will feature a host of performers, including notable acts like Jebediah, Little Birdy, Voyager, and Lucy Durack. Other artists slated to appear include South Summit, Draft, Justin Burford, and Mariah Cassandra, highlighting the rich musical talent emerging from the region. “It’s a great time to grab a picnic blanket, bring down the family, and spend a bit of time here,” Ms McGurk added, encouraging attendees to enjoy both established artists and newcomers.

The festival is supported by the WA Government, Lotterywest, and BHP, ensuring a well-funded event for the community. A special performance by the Perth Symphony Orchestra will feature their OrchXtra set, incorporating traditional instruments like didgeridoos and bagpipes, infusing the show with local flair. Blake Williams, the creator behind OrchXtra, expressed pride in the local contributions to the performance, stating, “Every second of this show has either been written or arranged, or produced by a local West Australian creative.”

Music curator Simon Miraudo of RTRFM emphasized the significance of the lineup, calling it “world-class.” He noted the importance of providing a free platform for both established bands, such as Jebediah, who are celebrating their 30th anniversary, and emerging acts. When asked to rank this year’s festival lineup, he confidently declared it “the best one ever.”

Rock icon Katy Steele of Little Birdy highlighted the vital role of events like this in promoting new artists. “It’s really, really hard to get heard these days,” she remarked. Steele believes the festival offers new musicians a chance to connect with a broader audience, beyond the usual smaller venues.

Returning to the stage are Voyager, who gained international recognition after their participation in Eurovision. Frontman Danny Estrin expressed excitement about the event, especially after last year’s performance was cut short due to inclement weather. “We think it’s a fantastic decision to move the date to a more pleasant and clement day in November,” he said, eager to deliver a full set this time.

Having recently performed in Germany, the band is thrilled to return home. “You come home, you see familiar faces, and you’re with friends and family,” Estrin noted, underscoring the unique feeling of performing in one’s hometown.

As anticipation builds for WA Day 2025, the festival promises to be a celebration of local culture, community, and the vibrant music scene in Western Australia. With an array of talent and free entry, it invites everyone to partake in the festivities.
