Timothée Chalamet Wins Best Actor, Declares Love at Critics Choice

Timothée Chalamet captured the award for Best Actor at the Critics Choice Awards, held on March 15, 2024, for his compelling role in Marty Supreme. During his acceptance speech, he took a moment to express gratitude toward his partner, Kylie Jenner, stating, “Thank you to my partner of three years, thank you for our foundation. I love you, I couldn’t do this without you.” Jenner, visibly moved, responded with an affectionate, “I love you” as the audience looked on.

The couple has garnered attention throughout the awards season, frequently appearing together at events. Just the previous evening, Jenner supported Chalamet at the Palm Springs Film Festival, where he received the Spotlight Actor of the Year award. Their coordinated fashion choices, such as matching orange outfits at the Los Angeles premiere of Marty Supreme, have also not gone unnoticed, with fellow attendees playfully spoofing their look during the Critics Choice Awards.

Chalamet’s portrayal of a 1950s New York City hustler and ping pong champion in Marty Supreme has positioned him as a frontrunner for the upcoming Oscars, following two previous nominations. His performance has received widespread acclaim, adding to the buzz surrounding his potential Oscar win in March.

Major Award Winners and Highlights

The Critics Choice Awards showcased a variety of talent and productions this year, with One Battle After Another dominating the ceremony. The film not only won Best Picture but also secured accolades for Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay, both awarded to Paul Thomas Anderson. Despite the film’s critical success, its nominated actors did not take home any individual awards, with Chalamet winning Best Actor and Jessie Buckley claiming Best Actress for her performance in Hamnet.

Other notable winners included Jacob Elordi, who won Best Supporting Actor for his role in Frankenstein, and Amy Madigan, who received Best Supporting Actress for her work in Weapons. Frankenstein also excelled in technical categories, winning awards for Production Design, Costume Design, and Hair and Make-Up.

The animated feature category saw KPop Demon Hunters take home the award for Best Animated Feature, while the song category was won by the catchy tune, Golden, from the same film. The Critics Choice Awards, while lacking crossover voters with the Oscars, still hold significance within the awards season due to their high-profile broadcast and star-studded red carpet events.
