The 4th Annual Free as a Bird Fiesta & Friends is set to take place on October 26, 2026, from 12:00 to 16:00 at Bridgeward Grove Olives & Art in Goornong, Victoria. Following the success of last year’s event, this year’s Fiesta aims to celebrate the rich biodiversity of the region, coinciding with BirdLife Australia’s Aussie Bird Count Week.
This vibrant, family-friendly event highlights the area’s impressive variety of bird species. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with nature in what is described as the heart of bird country. Local birdwatching enthusiasts can look forward to spotting species such as New Holland Honeyeaters, Wattlebirds, Flame Robins, and Superb Fairywrens.

The Fiesta will showcase the talents of local artists who draw inspiration from the avian world. Featured exhibitors include renowned photographers like Felicity Johnson, Matt McCoy, and Darryl Kirby, each offering unique perspectives on birdlife, from the Wellsford State Forest to the expansive night sky. Painters and illustrators such as Robyn Clarke and Coryn Tonkin will present detailed artworks that capture the essence of wildlife.
Additionally, Bridget Farmer, a printmaker and author known for her bird-inspired illustrations and children’s books, will contribute her works to the event. This blend of art and nature aims to foster a deeper appreciation for local biodiversity.
