SingHealth Launches Community MRI Centre in Dunearn Village

On February 14, 2026, SingHealth inaugurated a new MRI centre at Dunearn Village, marking a significant expansion of diagnostic imaging services into the community. This facility represents the first MRI centre established outside a hospital campus in Singapore, a move aimed at enhancing accessibility for local residents.

Innovative Features Enhance Patient Experience

The centre was developed in collaboration with United Imaging Healthcare, a global leader in AI-powered medical imaging solutions. It introduces a new operational model designed to expand imaging capacity while improving patient experience and workflow efficiency. This facility, fully licensed and operated by RADSC SGH, is equipped with three MRI systems from United Imaging, including two uMR Omega units and one uMR 680.

The uMR Omega platform is notable for its ultra-wide 75 cm bore and advanced AI-enabled imaging technologies, which not only enhance clinical capabilities but also improve patient comfort. This design reduces anxiety and accommodates a wider range of body types, making the diagnostic process more inclusive.

The initiative commenced in April 2025, culminating in the official opening of the centre in February 2026. Additionally, a Reference Site Agreement between SingHealth and United Imaging was signed on November 21, 2025, signalling a commitment to ongoing collaboration and innovation in the field of medical imaging.

Community-Centric Design and Operational Enhancements

Located in a community setting, the MRI centre incorporates various innovations aimed at enhancing both patient and staff experiences. Key features include mobile registration and in-app payment options through the Health Buddy application, recyclable patient gowns, and private sub-waiting pods designed to minimize movement and waiting times.

To further improve operational flexibility, expanded clinical roles for Patient Support Associates and credentialed nurses have been implemented. Additional enhancements include a door-frame metallic detector for safer screenings, scan cohorting strategies to optimize utilization, and a multi-dosing injector system that reduces waste while supporting sustainability goals.

“The new SingHealth MRI Centre reflects our continuous commitment to person-centred care and environmental stewardship,” said Professor Andrew Tan, Chairman of Radiological Sciences at SingHealth. “By synergising the advanced capabilities of UIH with SingHealth’s innovative service delivery models, we are elevating the standards for diagnostic imaging.”

Jusong Xia, PhD, President of International Business at United Imaging Healthcare, emphasized the importance of this collaboration: “By integrating AI-powered MRI solutions into community-based care settings, we aim to support more efficient clinical workflows while helping make high-quality diagnostic services more accessible to patients across Singapore and the broader Southeast Asia region.”

The opening of the SingHealth MRI Centre at Dunearn Village not only enhances system-wide capacity but also represents a scalable approach to community-based diagnostic imaging. By bridging the gap between advanced technology and local healthcare needs, this initiative aims to deliver more accessible and efficient imaging services to patients throughout Singapore.
