Alice Springs Man Claims Historic $25 Million Lotto Prize

A resident of Alice Springs has made headlines after winning the largest individual Lotto prize in the Northern Territory’s history, amounting to an astonishing $25 million. The man, a dedicated father, was overwhelmed with emotion upon claiming the prize, which was drawn on October 9, 2023. This victory marks a significant moment for the region, as it represents one of only two division one Powerball winners from that draw, with the other ticket sold in Western Australia.

In an emotional revelation, the winner shared that his ticket had been sitting in his utility vehicle for some time. It was his wife who prompted him to check the ticket, leading to a moment of disbelief. “I had no idea,” he recalled. “The missus actually reminded me to check my Powerball ticket this morning. I grabbed the ticket, which was sitting in my ute this entire time, and checked it in front of her.”

Upon confirming their win, the couple found themselves in a state of shock. “We couldn’t believe our eyes when we saw we had won $25 million. My wife nearly fainted,” he added. Their disbelief turned to joy as they repeatedly checked the numbers, which consistently confirmed their remarkable fortune. “I immediately burst into tears,” he stated.

The winner expressed relief at becoming debt-free, while also emphasizing his intention to continue working. He noted, “Thank you so much! This is very exciting. It means I’ll be able to pay off my bills and be mortgage-free. I’ll also be able to look after the children and set them up for life.”

The victory has broader implications beyond the individual winner’s life. According to a representative from Lott, the Northern Territory has experienced a successful run in the lottery this year, with five significant wins contributing to over $28 million in total prize money for the region.

The winning ticket was purchased at The Lucky Charm Alice Springs, located in the Coles shopping complex on Railway Terrace, adding to the local excitement surrounding this substantial win.

As the news spreads, the Alice Springs community is buzzing with enthusiasm over the life-changing impact of this Lotto victory.
