Home Care Packages Empower Seniors to Live Independently

A new initiative by the Australian Federal Government offers vital support to individuals aged 65 and over, enabling them to live independently at home. The program, known as the Home Care Package, allows seniors to access a variety of affordable care services aimed at maintaining their quality of life as they age.

Once individuals receive approval for a package, they must select a provider to coordinate the necessary support services. Sunbury and Cobaw Community Health, a not-for-profit organization with over 50 years of experience in the region, has established itself as a reliable choice for residents of the Sunbury and Macedon Ranges. With offices located in Kyneton, Romsey, and Sunbury, the organization focuses on understanding and meeting the needs of the local community.

“Our staff bring local knowledge, genuine care, and a personalized approach to every person we support,” said Michelle Franceschi, the Home Care Packages team leader. She emphasized the importance of tailoring services to each client’s unique situation.

The support provided through the Home Care Package can include assistance with daily tasks, such as cleaning, changing bed linen, and lawn maintenance. Additionally, the package may cover necessary home modifications, like the installation of safety rails and ramps, to ensure a secure living environment.

Moreover, the program facilitates social engagement by helping seniors access activities outside their homes. “We work closely with clients and their families to create personalized care plans that reflect individual needs and goals,” Franceschi added. The team prides itself on helping clients maximize the value of their funding.

In addition to Home Care Packages, Sunbury and Cobaw offers other essential services, including podiatry, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, exercise classes, and social activity groups. This integrated approach ensures that clients receive comprehensive support tailored to their lifestyles.

For those interested in exploring the Home Care Package options, assistance is readily available. This initiative exemplifies a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for seniors, allowing them to remain in their homes while receiving the support they require to thrive in their communities.
