Peppermint Grove Villa Crowned Perth’s Top Home for 2025

HIA Perth Housing Awards - Embargoed until 11.00pm Saturday 18 October 2025 Giorgi - 2025 HIA - TRUCORE Steel Perth Home of the Year

A stunning Tuscan-inspired villa in Peppermint Grove has been awarded Perth’s top home for 2025 at the Housing Industry Association (HIA) awards. This exceptional three-level residence, set on a generous 991 square metres, impressed judges with its outstanding detailing, design, and construction. The villa’s understated style belies the high level of craftsmanship that resulted in what the judges described as a “flawless result.”

The villa, built by Giorgi, features aged timber, marble, and stone, complemented by arched colonnades and a contemporary layout that offers breathtaking views of Freshwater Bay. Michael McGowan, executive director of the Housing Industry Association WA, highlighted the project’s blend of thoughtful design, skilled trades, and disciplined construction. He stated, “This project demonstrates how thoughtful design, skilled trades and disciplined construction can come together to create a home of enduring quality.”

Celebrating Innovative Design

In addition to the top home award, the HIA recognized an “architecturally daring home” by Weststyle in Coolbinia with the Innovation in Housing award. The judges were particularly impressed by its curved walls constructed from seven types of custom-mapped bricks. This fully electric, solar-powered residence also features curved steel glazing and integrated smart systems, showcasing a remarkable fusion of artistry and technology.

The judges noted the home’s striking design, which includes stunning staircases and innovative systems that enhance both functionality and aesthetic appeal.

Another notable mention was the winner of the Renovation and Addition Project of the Year, a heritage-listed bungalow dating back to 1915, also located in Peppermint Grove. This project, completed by Humphrey Homes, successfully preserved period features such as timber bay windows, fireplaces, and pressed tin ceilings. The redesign introduced a dramatic W-shaped extension that brought an abundance of natural light into the home.

The meticulous planning and design of this renovation were praised for creating a sophisticated living space that honors its historical context while embracing modernity.

The HIA awards evening highlighted the impressive achievements within the industry, showcasing the remarkable talent and creativity found in Perth’s residential architecture. As the awards recognize exceptional homes and innovative designs, they continue to inspire future projects that prioritize quality and craftsmanship.
